Résumé

Political power is the ability of an individual or a group of people to influence the thoughts, actions and mindset of people in a nation. This power can be legitimate when it is given to an entity by the people of a nation that holds authority over society. The paper, through the Marxist literary criticism, analyses and interprets the actions of King Henry VIII and his accomplices in order to show the negative impact of political power on morality. The analysis shows that illegitimate political power has a disregard for moral values and increases hypocrisy. Keywords: illegitimate, political power, morality, A Man for All Seasons.
